Kylie expected in Mumbai 'soon' to shoot new video

From DNA India

The pop star will feature in a music video with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt, composed by Oscar-winner AR Rahman

Kylie Minogue may be in Mumbai in the coming months If things go as planned, international pop sensation Kylie Minogue will be in Mumbai in the coming months to shoot a music video with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt. Kylie has already recorded the song for the video in London about two weeks back.

Composed by AR Rahman, the pop star has sung for the film Blue, reportedly the costliest Bollywood film in the making with a budget hovering around Rs140 crore.

After Hrs had broken the story (on December 7) that Kylie had agreed to sing for Rahman and had even given dates to meet the music composer in London. This is the first time that an A-list pop star is singing for a Bollywood film.

"Kylie liked the tracks scored by Rahman immensely and wanted to record immediately. It's a very peppy number with an international feel to it. Rahman has scored the song keeping Kylie and her singing style in mind," says a source.

Kylie attended the rehearsals and recorded the song between February 8-10 at her music studio in London. "She has sung two tracks for the film. One is a solo number that will be the promotional video of the film and the other is a duet with Sonu Nigam. Sonu's tracks were recorded in Mumbai and were sent over to her. She heard the tracks and sang along with him. The two tracks will be mixed in Mumbai. This is the track that will be used in the film," the source adds.

Sonu confirmed that he had sung for the film, but said that he is under contract not to speak about the details. The director of the film, Anthony D'Souza, added that a formal announcement will be made when Kylie lands in Mumbai.

On The Up is effing fabulous!

As we all know Kylie's albums are famous for neglecting great tracks that should have made the tracklisting but are somehow replaced with complete crap. Body Language would have definitely been loads better if On The Up or one of the other upbeat tracks that have since leaked from the era was tacked onto the second half of the album to give it some life. I still love the album regardless.

On The Up was produced by Johnny Douglas who also produced Disco Down, Koocachoo, Chocolate, and Red Blooded Woman for Kylie. The lyrics were penned by Kylie, Johnny, and Karen Poole. I'm hoping Kylie might do some work with him again for the new album because I love their songs together.

Interview with Sarah DeCourcy, musical director for X2008

From Korg.co.uk

Producing Kylie’s X2008 European Tour

Kylie Minogue’s hugely successful X2008 tour offered fans the chance to experience a fresh take on old favourites as well as enjoy her very latest material. Linking it all together, at the heart of the sound production, is a collection of Korg’s most coveted sound-generation and performance tools, including the 88-note weighted-keyboard version of the M3 workstation, MicroKorg and RADIAS synthesizers, plus the latest KAOSS Pad processor. Thomas James interviews Musical Director and keyboard player, Sarah deCourcy, to find out more.

Kylie is just about as successful as it’s possible to become in the music industry. In a career spanning more than two decades, she has gone from daytime soap-star to dance music diva, delivering scintillating live performances. Opening in Paris on May 6th, her 53-date X2008 tour visited all the major European cities, before completing its run in London’s O2 arena at the start of August. Fresh, exhilarating and innovative was what Minogue wanted her shows to be, and she achieved this by creating new arrangements of classic crowd-pleasers, using state-of-the-art stage lighting and video projection technology, and staging plenty of high-energy dancing.

Musical Director, Sarah deCourcy, was given the tricky task of selecting equipment capable of recreate the diverse palette of sounds the live set demanded, and it was the Korg range she chose to do it all!

“There are so many different styles of music in this show,” says Sarah, “it’s not just like pop or rock music all the way – it’s so diverse, from a ‘Copacabana’ cover to a remix of ‘Can’t get you out of my head’, and there are acoustic versions of other songs. It even goes right back to ‘I Should Be So Lucky’, 21 years ago.”
